Happy New Year from The Camellia!

 Wow! This past year has whizzed by, and now it's going to be 2015. We found a great video for you to watch, especially for all of you who are making New Year's resolutions.

It's the hardest thing to change one's habits - to eat meals on time, to eat healthy meals, to take the time to prepare healthy snacks,  to cook meals instead of grabbing take-out.

What are you resolving to do this year?

For some of us , we are vowing to take more time for ourselves, to slow down, to stop constantly DOING.... To sit and take a half-an-our for ourselves, to read a book. And to not feel guilty for doing this. 

 

 

Some of us want to travel more. What can you do to make that happen?

Some of us want to declutter and throw out stuff we no longer need. Organize, organize, organize.

BEGINNERS COTTAGE PAINT CLASS - tentative dates, Tuesday July 29th. 6.30 -9.30p, and Thursday July 31st. 6.30 -9.30  p. This is a good class to take if you have never used Cottage Paint before. And you have projects you want to tackle before Winter sets in. It's better to practice and learn all the techniques first before you tackle your redo. In this class you will be working on a wooden door, learning 1-colour distressing, 2-colour distressing, crackle, dry-brushing, antique glazing, waxing and varnishing.  Call now to reserve your spot. If you have a group of 4 or more, you can call and arrange your own time. Some of you are redoing bathrooms, some are repainting kitchen cabinets, some are planning on redoing furniture out at camp. And Cottage Paint has low voc's, making it a great choice for those of us with allergies. We just received a shipment of Cottage paint, with great new colours for the Summer, and new neutrals in off whites and greys.  We have all shades of this season's hottest colour trend - BLUES. Summer Whites, the Camellia, Thunder Bay

Happy Spring!

 

Yes, you heard that right, today is the first Day of   S P R I N G !!  ( even though we continue to be blessed with gifts of Snow).Shown in the photo above is a mason jar painted with Cottage Paint, holding fresh daffys and faux bulbs, yes you can mix fresh and faux flowers.

This morning, I was once again scraping ice and snow off my windshield, and saying a few choice words. I am looking forward to Spring, and am dreaming of this field of muscari blooms at Keukenhof in Lisse, Holland. Lucky duck who lives there!

How do you get through the Spring blahs....? Definitely poring over gardening magazines helps. We are busy getting ready for the Spring Home & Garden show coming up April 4, 5, 6 , 2014 at the CLE grounds.

Inspired by our Spring colours in Cottage Paint. And hats off to those of you who are painting away, getting all their refinishing projects done before the nice weather gets here. Cottage Paint classes coming up again in mid April, keep checking our website at www.thecamellia.com

Find inspiration in budding branches. You can force them indoors by placing branches in a bucket of water, and wetting them down in the shower. They may take a while, but they will bud indoors.
