We are OPEN at The Camellia, it's Summer and Ontario is opening up!

At long last.....Everything is opening up! You can come into our store, the Camellia, and SHOP!! ( Wear a mask, and follow all the usual safety protocols). No more guessing at the wrong paint colours. There are a lot of products which just can't be ordered online. Cottage Paint colours on the computer are not the same as the actual colour in the can.
Ontario is 75% vaccinated with their first dose, and 25% have had both doses. We know everyone is ready for Life to return to some sort of normal. At least, it's Summer now and everything is lush, and green. Time to leave our homes, and get outside!

Lake in Northern Ontario

Who can't wait to go a longish Road trip? Parents wanting to be able to see their children. Grandparents wanting to see their grandbabies. Those waiting for the U.S./Canada border to open up ( supposedly we are weeks away from borders opening up ). Here in Northern Ontario, most of us have been out Fishing and Day Camping.

Summer is a good time to change out your Floral arrangements in your Home or Camp. so many of us have missed our winter vacays in the Tropics, why not decorate with our real-looking Hibiscus and Ginger stems? No water or extra care needed, they have long stems so they are suitable for use in a tall vase.

Cottage Paint robin's egg blue

Cottage Paint is perfect for Garden projects. Gardens look lovely with the addition of Birdhouses, and small obelisks, and ornaments. This colour is Robin's egg blue, and pairs up well with our patio tablecloths. These have a hole in the middle for the umbrella and a zipper up to the hole.

making a deco mesh wreath

Here is a work-in-progress. A deco mesh Wreath which would look great out at Camp, this will be  a DIY kit you can purchase to make your own. It is time consuming, but the end result is worth it.

You can clip on photos of your family onto this wreath. Which brings us to another topic, take lots of photos. You never know when that photo is all you have left of someone.

Making Time slow down when it seems like it's speeding up, The Camellia

Hello February! We have been lucky as January in Northern Ontario can be really, really cold. And this January it's been so mild. It's been easy to get out walking every day. We've had lots of snow, and here we are in February, it seems like January has flown by.

Which brings us to the concept of Time... why does it seem to speed up as you get older? Click on the link below, which is a great article on Making Time. Read on.

dried fern wreath at the Camellia

When you're involved in something you like to do, time seems to fly by. This is a ginormous Wreath I made from field ferns. It took hours and more hours, and the idea of a giant Fern Wreath had been in my head for months, and I simply had to find the time to make it. What projects do you have going around in your head? ...when I have time.......I will make .........

Ever notice how slowly time goes when you are stuck doing some dreaded task...like Bookwork? You pull up your files, then you find yourself checking email, Facebook, and wait, you're starving! so you race off to find a snack, and before you know it, 2 hours have gone by, and you haven't started your paperwork. Yes, time crawls sometimes.

It seems like there is never enough time to sleep. For a long time, I treated Sleep as an afterthought, after I get everything done, I will go to bed. Sleep deprivation leads to many health problems. You must make time for Rest.

It can be a struggle to eat healthy. Especially when there is a Timmie's on every street corner, and there are chocolates at every grocery checkout. And you are tired when you get home from work. This past summer we grew all kinds of veggies, and it's so much easier to eat healthy when you can pick kale from your own garden.

willow cross at the Camellia

One day you get the call that one of your friends has unexpectedly passed away. You may feel terrible as you had meant to call her up and have lunch together, and you didn't make the time.
This is a willow cross which we have for sale at The Camellia.

I guess the rule of thumb is that if you really want to do something, you will find the time to do it. We stock Cottage Paint at The Camellia.www.cottagepaint.com
How many of you have a stash of fabric stored in strange places.....omg...why are there plies of fabric and magazines in the Linen closet?

Happy Friday! The Camellia, Thunder Bay, On

Happy Friday everyone! Do you have those days where you wish you were somewhere else? Like here looking at the tulips in Lisse, Holland, at Keukenhof Gardens... Of course, the -25 temps. here in Thunder Bay  have something to do with this...

Wish I was here .... enjoying the bouganvillea blossoms at Gran Bahai Principe in Mexico...

Wishing that the birdies would return... I know they are here, but the yellow finches  turn kind of grey in the Winter, and it's so cold , they are hiding today. They love thistle seed so I should refill their feeders..

We have Willow Wreaths for sale in the Shop...these go quickly, so just saying..if you want one.. call and order or put 1 on hold.

You can enjoy the Garden all year round with this wreath ...made with Peonies and lemon leaves from our very own Gardens!

I have to remind myself that LIFE IS GOOD! This pillow is in stock at the shop, a great addition to your decor, and also a nice pillow for a Gift for someone special!

However, at this moment I am supposed to be working on Purse Bouquets for a Wedding..so adios!
Have a great Friday!
