Here we are at the start of a brand New year! 2022! It's a chilly -21 Celsius and sunny here in Thunder Bay, Ontario. 

In Antigua, it is a beautiful sunny day, and 27 degrees Celsius. We hope you are having a great day whether you are in the cold, or in the Caribbean. 

Some of us are list makers and Goals-to-be-set- kind-of-people, and the new paper smell of a fresh planner is kind of nice. It's a day to put up 2022 calendars, and to start writing in a new planner. 

Maybe you have taken your Christmas Tree down ( amidst a flurry of pine needles), and are wondering what to put in that bare spot. A Dried floral arrangement filled with pods, and Pampas grass would look lovely. Here at The Camellia, we can custom make a Floral for your space.

French & European Country Decor at The Camellia

Cheery Provencal fabrics, from the markets in Provence, sold by the yard.

We carry provencal and Toile Fabrics. Here is one of the cushions we make, with a toile and an alternating check, in Waverly fabrics.

All kinds of faux stone finishes are part of this look. Details are added around Fireplaces, and also around doorways, and mirrors.

These are replicas of old advertising signs in Tin. This one would be perfect for a bathroom.

Painted finishes are part of the European country look. This is an old cabinet which I painted, using Hide glue as a crackling agent. Then I used a Wisteria stencil in the middle of the door panels.

Here at The Camellia, we are in love with Lavender. You will find a wide selection of Lavender bunches, lavender buds, lavender soaps, lotions, room sprays, and sachets. I still remermber the smell of Lavender when walking into the foyer of a Gite in Forcalquier, she had placed a huge vase of Lavender buds in the middle of the room, and the smell was everywhere.

Le Cigale is the symbol of the South of France, this is a wonderful Lavender Cigale soap.

Shopping at Distillery District, Toronto, On

Lucky for me, I was just at the Distillery District in Toronto. Here are some photos for those of you who have yet to visit. There are some great Antique stores, chocolate shops, the Vintage Gardener, and much, much more. There were also 3 Wedding parties there, on the Saturday I visited.

Flowers for Grand Opening

It's September already ( Yikes!), but our marvellous Summer weather continues. Good news for all the flowers happily growing in the garden, ready to be used in fresh flower creations or in our Wreaths. The hanging Green flowers are Hanging Amaranthus. And the purple spikes are a different variety of Lavender, the leaves smell like licorice, and the bees love these plants!

I used both the amaranthus and the lavender in a large Floral Arrangement which was sent for the Grand Opening of a Municipal Office. How appropriate for an Office in the Country!
