A visit to Canada Blooms, Toronto, Ontario

A Visit to Canada Blooms is a real treat in the Winter when one is craving warmth, and green grass, and Flowers.

The displays are over-the-top, but elegant, and provide a countless source of Inspiration for both the serious and the Hobby Gardener.

Red osier Dogwood, and Amaryllis blooms. These blooms can be hung upside down while in  bud stage, fill their hollow stems with water, and  blooms will stay hydrated for a few days.

And our favourite,  Tulips. Holland, Keukenhof Gardens....so cheery and bright.

Spring forward, Tuliptime and The Camellia

It's March ...and for most of us, the only thing that gets us through to Spring is thinking Spring, and looking at TULIPS!! Of course, Holland is the Tulip capital of the world.

We are all craving  green, I can almost smell the odour of a freshly cut lawn......sigh.

Now is the time to banish Winter, and add Spring to your decor. A vase of curly Willow, with colourful easter eggs makes a great display. The willow will root right in your vase.

Hyacinths and Muscari blooms.

Treat yourself to White Lilac shea butter Hand lotion...new stock just arrived at our store , the Camellia.

Mr. Benji is awaiting the arrival of Spring ---  and garden tomatoes.

And the rest of us are awaiting the start of Garden season.....Pansies from Paulusma's Greenhouses, Thunder Bay. And from De Bruins Greenhouses, Highway 61, Thunder bay.

I'm sure you are looking forward to sitting outside...warm sunshine, birdies tweeting..

The rain had just fallen, the sky was slightly overcast, the weather colder than normal, so the Tulips were superb!!

Beautiful displays of Iris in one of the many indoor exhibits.

Uncrating SPRING, Home & Garden Show, C.L.E.

It's blowing and cold here today, but at least the le soleil is out. Oh Spring, oh Spring, where art thou? In the meantime, I must be content with uncrating boxes of Spring blooms....

Potted primulas.

Potted Ranunculus. So Pretty!

This is an ad from The Canadian Countryman, Sept. 27, 1930. Old Farm journals provide a fascinating look into the past.

Springtime is coming

Well, it's snowing here in Thunder Bay, raining and snowing in Toronto, and has snowed again in Oneida, in upstate New York. It was raining in Antigua yesterday. I've decided to ignore the snow, and look at Spring photos we took in Holland.

Everywhere you go, there are cheerful window planters .

Many shops have mini gardens outside their doors, enticing passers-by to come in.

What about some delicious chocolate daisies to lift the spirits? This photo was taken in a quaint chocolate shop in Leiden.

And then there are the Wisteria vines everywhere, climbing up and down walls..rambling over arbours...smelling heavenly.

It is March, Spring is just around the corner!

Spring at Keukenhoff Gardens

What a treat it is to be able to visit Holland in the Spring! A must is a visit to Keukenhoff Gardens, simply the best display of Spring flowers I have ever seen. Feels like you are walking in an enchanted forest, with the smell of Spring flowers all around you. Plan to spend the whole day here , and make sure you go with friends who are nuts about gardening.
