Porch Living at The Camellia

When you live in Northern Ontario, your Spring/Summer months are precious. So when it rains and rains, and lots of bugs are around, you can't help but get a little miffed, to say the least. Today It's SUNNY and we are going to attempt to finish planting our Gardens. Look how lovely these acrylic drops look in a planter, we have them for sale in the shop.

The French Lilacs and Iris are in full bloom, and the smell wafting through an open window is just lovely. Flowers and their smells just uplift one's soul. Mason jar is painted with Veruca Cottage Paint. Cottage Paint goes right over glass, and metal, as well as wood.

Our Porch at the shop is getting a make-over, with a soap testing station, for Napa Valley soap, Beekman 1802, and Rocky Mountain Soap.

A moose and birch Twig wreath made up for an order.

Practice boards from our Beginners' Cottage Paint class. Our July schedule ( July 10, & July 22nd. for CP classes)  is up on the website...phone to register for paint classes. http://www.thecamellia.com/classes-at-the-camelia.html

Friends taking a Cottage Paint class together ... they were going to use their boards in the Garden with old doorknobs and implements.

Off we went to visit  the Beekman 1802 store in Sharon Springs, upstate New York. It was a fabulous sunny day, and on the way to Sharon Springs, we passed by many old barns with huge letters "Antiques." Sigh...so many stores, so little time.  When we arrived at the Beekman store, it did not disappoint. Tall ceilings, a neutral backdrop of dark greys, creams and black, a mix of modern, vintage and upcountry.

And best of all, we bought Beekman 1802 product back with us! Come into The Camellia to see fabulous Goat-milk soaps, and their line called Fresh Air, found in upscale NYC hotels. Indulge yourself today, or pick one up for a fab Gift for a friend.
Honey Bar,  Wild Poppy After the Garden bar, Scent of Winter Goat Milk soap, Scent of Spring Goat milk Soap, True Grit Men's Soap, Fresh Air Body Lotion, Fresh Air Shower Gel, Fresh Air room spray, & Lavender month of August soap.

And, wait, there's more....
we have Lavender bunches fresh from a Lavender Farm in British Columbia. Lavender is a natural Air Freshener, without chemicals and bad stuff. Lavender essential Oil now back in stock.

Summer Weekends at The Camellia

When you live in Northern Ontario, these precious few weeks of Summer matter a lot.

How do you get to what YOU WANT TO DO instead of what you HAVE TO DO?

View this email in your browser

Who doesn't love a lazy Summer weekend?

Looking forward to lazing on the deck, maybe firing up the Barbecue and having some friends over? Or grabbing your clubs and heading out to the golf course? Why are you moaning? It's RAINING!! Oh, a minor detail.

What's that? You have to cut grass, the house needs cleaning, someone needs to pick up the mess from the window Reno., hufff, pant....and there are no groceries in the fridge..and ..and...WHERE IS THE MAID?

Take a deep breath, and make a schedule for your weekend. Pencil in that leisure activity you want to do, it's the only way. Get everyone in the household on board with you, if you help out with the-have-to-dos, then we can all get to the-want-to-dos.

Relax, Go Fishing, Go Golfing, Sleep in, read a book, sit on deck and do nothing, Take a walk, Canoe, Play, Take A nap, Sit around a Campfire, Have Fun. Take a Drive in the Country and visit The Camellia. Get inspired to create.

It's Simple: Go south on  Hwy.61, left on Hacquoil Rd. #30.

Just in, a new shipment of Cottage Paint, brushes and glazes. Cottage Paint Classes coming up next week, in the evening from 6.30-9.30. Call 475-3551 to register.

Flowering Spring shrubs, The Camellia, Thunder Bay, On

Spring is such a wonderful time of the Year! A lot of shrubs only flower in the Spring, and what a show it is. This post is for those of you who may be longing for blooms and warm temperatures, and you may be feeling sort of, well, is it ever going to get really nice?

Hydrangea blooms seen outside Beringer Winery in Napa Valley, California.

And everywhere you go in Mountain View, California, there's an abundance of jasmine vines, their perfume is magnificent. Flowering shrubs and vines add so much beauty to our world.

Roses are everywhere! A profusion of colour and masses of blooms, in bush and topiary forms.

Sniff..... ! Nothing smells as sweet as a Rose.

Come visit us at the Camellia! We are at 30, Hacquoil Rd. Open reduced hours on Wed. 1-3, Fri. 1-3. Sat. 1-4.
Normal hours resume on June 5th, 2013.

Some like it HOT, but some like it cool..The Camellia, Thunder Bay

Some like it HOT, but some, like my Golden above, like it cool. How about you? Do you view the approaching Fall with dread, or are you a bit fed-up with the heat and high humidity?

Plants are still blooming away ... here are Heavenly Blue Morning Glories.  It's been such a hot, tropic-like Summer, and the plants have been loving it. As long as you can keep up with the watering....

And today, even though it's maybe 100 degrees out, we're thinking Fall, and busy changing displays and adding our new Fall product to the store.

With all the flowers still blooming in the Garden, Bouquets can be quickly thrown together. I like to use branches laden with apples, and Grapevine branches , heavy with grape clusters.

Time to start thinking about decorating for Fall - here are simple fern bundles from the Farm

At Camellia's, we have fabulous new Purses, and lots of evening bags with bling.

One of my favourite activities in the Fall - going for a walk or a Hike.

Have a fun long weekend, and be sure to stop in at Camellia's! Open Wed. through Sunday.
Sat. 11-5, Sun. Noon-5p.

30 Hacquoil Rd. ( No, this is not in the boonies or out in the back of nowhere..!)
It's a simple 10 minutes from the Thunder Bay Airport, heading south along Hwy. 61 .
We'd love to see you!
