Lake Superior inspired decor.

It's almost May...and the start of  fishing season. Here in Thunder Bay we are blessed to live on the shores of Lake Superior. Why not decorate your Camp in Lake Superior style?

At The Camellia, we sell all kinds of Lake related decor - signs, starfish, seashells, etc. LAKE is an easy decor theme to do - think canoe shelves, rocks, birch poles, and colours that echo the water, sky, rocks and trees. We have 1 Canoe shelf for sale.

How about this birch log fabric, good for making a quick cover up on a tension rod to hide shleving. That's Turquoise Cottage Paint used on the Birdhouse.

Stop by The Camellia and get one of our fabulously easy Tablecloths - water just beads up and rolls off, enabling you to wipe up a spill before it sets in. No more plastic on your table. Can you throw these babies in the wash? Yes, they are polyester.
Sizes : rectangles that are 78" long, 94" long, 126" long.
70" square for pub style tables
             70 " rounds
We stock most sizes, and can order in the 126" rectangle.

Here is a  70" round.

Need furniture for your Cottage? You can special order custom-made wooden furniture here.

Happy New Year from The Camellia!

Wow! This past year has whizzed by, and now it's going to be 2015. We found a great video for you to watch, especially for all of you who are making New Year's resolutions.

It's the hardest thing to change one's habits - to eat meals on time, to eat healthy meals, to take the time to prepare healthy snacks,  to cook meals instead of grabbing take-out.

What are you resolving to do this year?
For some of us , we are vowing to take more time for ourselves, to slow down, to stop constantly DOING.... To sit and take a half-an-our for ourselves, to read a book. And to not feel guilty for doing this.

Some of us want to travel more. What can you do to make that happen?

Some of us want to declutter and throw out stuff we no longer need. Organize, organize, organize.

We wish you the very best in 2015, and Thank you for letting us be part of your Lives!!
We have upcoming classes in Beginners' Cottage Paint, check out our classes at http://www.thecamellia.com/classes-at-the-camelia.html
For our hours, phone us at 475-3551
Happy New Year!

The Nursing Home will come soon enough.

Often there will be a group of a Mother and Daughter in the store. The mother is in a retirement home, and is usually bemoaning the fact that she now has one small room, or rooms.  Quite often , the mother will comment.. "If I only had my house still, I would be able to buy......." It's like a kid in a candy store who is told by their Mother, you can't buy any candy today.

Go treat yourself to some fresh Flowers today, these are oh-so-pretty Alstromeria, get them partly closed and they will last for quite a while.

To all those who are in love with clean, uncluttered lines ( a.k.a. the Prison cell look), and try to convert everyone to their way of thinking, to those of you who accuse some people of being a hoarder, the Nursing Home will come soon enough.

Bake yourself a Cake, and eat the icing too.

Plan on taking one of our fabulously creative classes at The Camellia.

Take time to notice the fading beauty of blossoms on the ground.

Some of us will be lucky and have our own private space, where we can keep our pretty things.  Some of us may be in the Dementia floor, where sometimes persons keep wandering in and out of our room, taking things.

So put photos on your walls, have nice things around you, and don't spend your very important Life suffering and waiting to die. Live every day to the fullest, treat yourself to something nice.  Maybe when your kids were younger and just growing up, you couldn't treat yourself to nice things. So now you can do it. I say, down with the prison cell look. It's not in style anymore. Not in my book, anyway!!

Here at The Camellia, we are closed now and will reopen on Feb. 1st. 2014. If you need anything during this time, call and leave a message. P -807-475-3551.We have fabulous Home decor and fabric accessories to dress up your Home.

Things to be Thankful for, The Camellia, Thunder Bay, Canada

Can you believe it's almost Thanksgiving? It feels like Summer here in Thunder Bay, with bright sunshine, colourful leaves swirling in the wind, and temperatures of 22 C or more. Have you started decorating for Fall? So much wonderful foilage to be found all around us, from Nature to your Home! So many textures and colours...

What are your plans for Thanksgiving get-togethers  and Turkey feasts? Feel like there's too much to do, and not enough hours in the day? Why does time fly faster as we get older? Just take a deep breath and   B r e a t h e...

This is our ever-popular red twig Wreath sprayed silver.....customers ask us How long do the wreaths last outside? for a long time, after all, they are made of twigs, and trees grow happily outdoors.

Grab the Kids, and the Dog and go foraging. see what you can find in Nature, like these lovely orange crabapples we found in our yard..didn't even know they were there.

Gather all kinds of twigs, and ferns, and red dogwood from the fields, then get everyone to help to arrange them in containers. Ask everyone to take a moment and think about what they are thankful for.

I'm thankful for TP, I know it's a strange thing to be thankful for, but in a poor country, quite often, the stores will run out of TP. This is a new TP box we have in store at The Camellia, it holds 3 rolls of TP. I am also thankful for clean water that you can drink from the Tap without boiling first. That we live in a country where, if you hear a gunshot, you don't have to drop and roll into a ball. And that it's relatively safe to walk down the street. What are you thankful for?

If you looking for a Weekend outing, head over to Gammondale Farms. Pumpkin heaven.

Another Must-visit in our area is the new Thunder Oak Cheese Farm. We stopped in today for a quick visit while out doing deliveries.

All kinds of Gouda cheese, made right here. I tried the Cajun cheese curds for lunch today, so yummy!

Here are some of the  materials that were used in our Tuscan Harvest Planter class.

The start - an empty pot.

Shhh..the designers are hard at work....stems are flying, should it be here or here?

 Voila ! the finished piece.
