Time to Plant, The Camellia, Thunder Bay, On

It's almost time to start planting seeds for Garden blooms! Do you start your own plants from seed, or do you buy most of your plants from a Greenhouse?  Plants are so rewarding...just plant, water, fertilize, and voila! They reward you with endless blooms all summer long!

Using the right soil mix for starting seeds is a must. Are you starting your seeds in your house? Once they sprout, watch that plants don't get too leggy as they stretch towards the light. You can also transfer plants to outdoor cold frames, depending on the type of plant, and the temperatures outside.

Pansies are one of my favourites, looks like a master painter painted their petals. and they can take colder temperatures.

Of course, Morning glories are nice too.

And Dahlias are nice too!

Don't forget to plant some flowers for your Cutting Garden.

Planting for a Summer Garden, The Camellia, Thunder Bay, On

It's raining outside, and those of us who are avid Gardeners are starting to get the itch to play in the dirt and plant seeds, and are wondering if the bulbs we planted in the Fall will actually come up..!

However, reality intrudes. Snow still on the ground, piles of paperwork everywhere, cleaning and purging ( again, no-one wants to tackle this). Bills, and , and...you get the picture. I'm sure you have a list of tasks which you should be doing, but don't really want to....

Nothing compares to the smell of Sweet Peas...I started them myself from seeds last Spring.
Back to that nasty list of things I have to do...how to get through it..?
I think of something I really like to do in the Summer..like Gardening, then I think of how terrible it would be if I was stuck indoors doing all the things on my list which I should have tackled earlier on..like now. This spurs me on, amidst much groaning and sighing.

They smell so good...I should just eat them! Goldens will eat almost anything.

The Sunflower seeds really did transform themselves into mammoth, showy large masterpieces.

Who can resist the blue of Morning Glories?

And Pansies.... brilliant colours. My favourite!!

Red Amaranthus.

Leave a comment below and tell us how you cope with the list of never-ending disagreeable tasks....

Memories of Summer Blooms

Daylilies by my pond.

On days like today, when the wind is howling, and the temperatures are a chilly minus 30, all I want to do is curl up by the fireplace. It's comforting to look at photos from my Summer garden,
remember spring is just a few months away!

Showy Begonias almost look like a Camellia blossom!

Pansy blossoms are so cheery, one can't help but feel happy when faced with their profusion of blooms.

Daisies are so plentiful in a Country Garden.

Of course, in the Springthyme, nothing is more showy than the flowering crabapple trees which line our Country driveway.

Don't these look as if someone spent hours painting and colouring them?

Yes, SPRING is a mere few months away!
