Organizing sewing Rooms, Camellia's, Thunder Bay, On

The key to organization is that everything in your home should have a place. When you use the item, it always goes back to its home, and in a ideal world , you would be able to find the item again. Reality is that my sewing room is so messy and so jammed with fabrics and supplies strewn hastily all over. I cannot even find some pins at the moment. I was going to post a photo of my room, but decided not to ...!

I love the fact that there's no carpet in this room, makes it so much easier to clean up. Having a unit like the one above would definitely help.

I almost need one of those teams that come in, take everything out of the room, dump it on the lawn, then they organize the space. Here's how things work in my household....

" I really need some help with cleaning up the ............."

Want to hear the replies..?
  • Can't you see we're busy?
  • You made the mess, just clean it up yourself, it's all your mess
  • it's Spring time..I have massive Yardwork to do
  • It's Summertime, you want me to sit indoors and clean??? No. Really...???
  • It's Fishing season
  • it's Falltime, more yardwork..
  • It's Christmas ...you want me to spend my Christmas holiday cleaning....???
  • It's the middle of Winter, my tools are in the garage, it's 30 below...
  • just throw the damn stuff out!! who needs it anyway..?
Sigh.... does this happen in your house too?

The After Christmas blahs..Camellia's, Thunder Bay Florist

My neighbour's Daffodils...sigh... I planted lots of Daffodils in the fall, covered the bulbs with mesh so that my unpaid Gardeners..aka... the squirrels , can't dig them up, so I'm hoping I get lots of blooms this Spring. Deer apparently don't like Daffodils.

I don't know about you, but the taking down of the Christmas tree tends to become a chore, it's not the same as putting it up. So what can you do? Try getting some Spring pots of Daffodils and Hyacinths. Surround yourself with colour. Spring pots are so cheery and happy!

Camellia's - 30 Hacquoil Rd. Oilver Paipoonge, Thunder Bay, On

We'll be OPEN on Saturday, Jan. 14th from 12 to 4p.

Gran Bahai Principe Coba, Mexico

Some of you may be contemplating running away to a warm sandy beach somewhere...anywhere.. Try the Gran Bahai Principe Coba resort in Mexico. The first photo above is the sitting area in our room. Too bad that this season, there are no direct flights from Thunder Bay to Mexico. This is a fabulous all-inclusive resort, the grounds are very well kept, the rooms are spacious and clean, the Staff at the resort will offer you the best service possible.

And the airport in Mexico...? Modern, clean, looked like any other airport anywhere in the world...TP in the washrooms, really, I don't know what I was expecting. The Airport staff were quick and efficient at moving all the tourists through.

How nice are the Staff at the Gran Bahai? Well, when I was in the front Lobby I spied the florist coming in with armfuls of tropical flowers to place in the Lobby, so I tried to buy some flowers from him. However, with my limited Spanish, and having no pesos on me, I wasn't able to make myself understood. One of the Staff saw this, she went and got her purse and paid the florist in pesos. I later gave her back the money in dollars. The staff really do look after you. I had a beautiful tropical Bouquet of Ginger & Birds of Paradise for our room.

There are so many tropical flowers - like this purple Bouganvillea bush.

Your choice of which pool to use, as there 2 sister resorts on the grounds, the Akumal which is closer to the beach , and Tulum.

So much colour in theTropics! A welcome change from black and greige. This is part of a Shopping center on the grounds, complete with a Doctor's Office and a Pharmacy.

Lots of Birds in the tree just outside our room.

You're able to do Yoga outside..how many of you have always wanted to do that?

Everybody needs some quality time in the Sun...!!

Fabulous sandy beaches.... this beach is at one of the nearby Mayan ruins. The one thing about the Resort is that it is very big, so it helps to study the map , so that you can find your way around easily. There is a tram that circles around and takes you to the beach and to the Buffets, and the a la carte restaurants ( if you prefer not to walk..) Email me and I'll send you a copy of the map via email.

For now, I will try to embrace the biting cold, the snow, and this wonderful view of the Sleeping Giant.

How are you coping with the recent cold snap?
