Planting for a Summer Garden, The Camellia, Thunder Bay, On

It's raining outside, and those of us who are avid Gardeners are starting to get the itch to play in the dirt and plant seeds, and are wondering if the bulbs we planted in the Fall will actually come up..!

However, reality intrudes. Snow still on the ground, piles of paperwork everywhere, cleaning and purging ( again, no-one wants to tackle this). Bills, and , and...you get the picture. I'm sure you have a list of tasks which you should be doing, but don't really want to....

Nothing compares to the smell of Sweet Peas...I started them myself from seeds last Spring.
Back to that nasty list of things I have to do...how to get through it..?
I think of something I really like to do in the Summer..like Gardening, then I think of how terrible it would be if I was stuck indoors doing all the things on my list which I should have tackled earlier on..like now. This spurs me on, amidst much groaning and sighing.

They smell so good...I should just eat them! Goldens will eat almost anything.

The Sunflower seeds really did transform themselves into mammoth, showy large masterpieces.

Who can resist the blue of Morning Glories?

And Pansies.... brilliant colours. My favourite!!

Red Amaranthus.

Leave a comment below and tell us how you cope with the list of never-ending disagreeable tasks....

Spring duckies

How many of you like ducks? They are my family's favourite creature. I remember driving along on the highway just outside Edmonton, and a family of Mommy and her ducklings decided to go across the highway..everyone in the car yells..oh No! Don't hit the duckies! Luckily it wasn't too busy on the roads and they made it across safely...

They are huddling together for warmth, in the Spring, you can buy them at Dan's Feed Barn in Superior, WI

Our soft Cotton Bedding - come into the store to see our samples. Same soft yellow as the baby ducks. Imagine sinking into a bed made up with these sheets..... To see our Bedding collection, go to: www.brunelli.ca

Paulusma's Greenhouses, Thunder Bay, ON

I was going for a walk today, tromping along in the recent snow that we've had. Has anyone noticed how long it's staying light in the evenings now?

Yes, Summer and Gardening season is coming! And we are kind of happy to see the snow, as we can't garden without water.

Here are some photos from one of my favourite Greenhouses - Paulusma's .

Did I mention I love Kangaroo Paw? A native of Australia, I think, it has flowers that last forever. They are so sculptural and add line and form to an arrangement.

They come in all colours, and you can get the potted plants at Paulusma's. They like to stay dry, so don't over water.

There is always a large selection of tuberous Begonias in every colour.

If you like different plants, go to Paulusma's Greenhouses at 204 Belton Rd. Phone (807)767-7150. Call ahead to check hours.

Imagine you are flying above the clouds...it's quiet, calm and serene.....

Do what it takes to stop yourself from being angry and upset ...sniff a vanilla leaf..( surprisingly it has no smell)

These are our Lake Superior stones ...for sale at True North Co-op on Algoma St. They are now located in the old Folino's corner grocery store.

Yes, as adults we get bogged down by the details of Life, and dealing with the everyday , so today, play a little, giggle a little........ tell us what you do when you're feeling low....
