Sunny Days , or lack thereof...

For those of us that live Up North, we wait for a very, very, very  long time for Summer. Now we are stuck in what seems like day after day of rain and more rain. We are trying to practice gratefulness for the rain.

Most of us just want to get our plants planted, our gardens weeded, our grass cut....  When we're feeling blah it's nice to look at photos from our holidays, to cheer us up and remind ourselves the rain will stop, and the sun will come out. Here are some flowering Rhodos.

Who can't wait to sit by the Lake, and enjoy the clear water, and the sound of the water splish-splashing on the rocks?

The Joy of being able to sit outdoors and just relax, maybe read a book or 2.

Camellia blooms....so pretty.

Spanish Lavender in full bloom.

The Joy of a Garden ... here is to blue skies and Sunshine!
Visit The Camellia, at 30, Hacquoil Rd. Open Wed. 11-5, Thurs. 12-5. Fri. & Sat. 11-5. Sunday 12-5.

Shopping for plants in Antigua, West Indies

Today we are heading to a Plant Nursery in Antigua, to get some more plants for a friend's garden. Here is a lovely Hibiscus plant, they are available in many colours, the most common variety being red. We used to have  a 6ft. Hibiscus hedge around our yard in Guyana, South Amercia.

Most tropical flowering plants are brightly coloured, as is everything in the Tropics.

This large tree is quite stunning, never mind all of the plants around it.

Maidenhair ferns, these are easy to grow in the Tropics. I must confess they are tough to grow in North America,

In the Tropics, we grow Orchids in the air, like a hanging plant, Today we are here to buy Orchids to plant on my friend's dock, so I must stop gawking at everything, and help her choose from this wide variety.

Spring Plants on Vancouver Island, Art Knapp Part 2

Spring comes a lot earlier to Vancouver Island, today we're continuing our photo tour of Flowering bushes and plants. Here in Thunder Bay, the buds on the Apple trees are just starting to show some colour.

The Rhodos were in full bloom when we visited. Most of the bushes were loaded with blooms.

Climbing Clematis Vines.

Of course, if we lived on the Island, I would definitely be at Art Knapp buying plants.

White Dogwood trees are even growing in the wild.

Do plan a Visit to The Camellia, we have no Rhodos, but our Flowering crabapple trees will soon be in bloom. We have Camp decor, Lake decor, Mosquito nets, No-see-um Nets, and much more! Cottage/chalky Paint , Serenity Paint for indoors and out. We are running Beginners' Cottage Paint classes on May 26, and May 27.

The bedroom in the top right is in a B&B on Salt Spring Island, what a treat to wake up to the ocean and trees & blue skies! There were also magnolias in bloom ( bottom right photo).

A Visit to Art Knapp, Courtenay,Vancouver Island, Part 1

It's that time of the year when we are anxious to get into our Gardens, the weather here in Thunder Bay is a bit chilly, actually it's been cold, but plants do like cool, damp weather, so it's the perfect time to garden right now. Today we're sharing some photos from Art Knapp to get you inspired for Garden season!

The Coastal/Seashore/Lakeshore theme is huge in Decor. Blues, Aquas, beiges, & turquoises.

You can achieve this look with #CottagePaint which we sell at #TheCamellia. You will be amazed at how you can spruce up an old, outdated piece with Cottage Paint.

Whites are classic, and always in style.

We have all kinds of cool stuff for your Garden right here at The Camellia. You might have seen this Fairy statue at the Art In Design Spring Home Tour which we took part in this weekend. You can purchase her at The Camellia on Hacquoil Rd.

Garden lanterns are so beautiful on the Porch. These can be purchased at Bloomers and the  Brownhouse on Archibald St. , a set of 2 for $75.00 +hst.

Come visit The Camellia, at 30/32 Hacquoil Rd.
