Fall Trend Report, 2012 - Camellia's, Thunder Bay

Hello everyone! It's September already, can you believe it?

Being a fashion-challenged person, and a person who has her nose buried in decor trend reports, I've asked my Fashion expert in Ottawa to share her ideas on Fall  fashion Trends. Thanks to Indira Bondy for this peek into the Fashion world!

With shorter days and cooler nights, it’s time for Canadians to transition to an Autumn wardrobe. Once again, designers do not disappoint fashionista’s of any stripe. Let’s get started with the key themes chosen by Canadian Fashion editors at Fashion Magazine, Flare and Elle Canada.

Black in all its leather, rock and roll and gothic styles

Fashion magazines are calling it the Rooney Mara effect, Fall clothes in Black goth, black rock and roll, black erotic, black religious, and in many juxtapositions. It then morphs into black and romantic with lace and velvet. See Danier Leather for the latest Fall Collections. For the sophisticated woman, check out Jeanne Becker’s line at the Bay.

Want something a little romantic and flirty?

Embellishments and its forays into Eastern traditions, romantic lace and baroque

The 1980s make a comeback with rich embellishment such as beading, brocade, jewellery and appliqué. Visit The Camellia to see our unique collection of hand-spun scarves and edgy jewellery pieces, some of which are made by local Thunder Bay artisans.

Sarah draws her colour palette from the surroundings of Lake Superior - from the Water, rocks, mosses, and sky. Each piece is unique and special.

For those of you who love Colour, this striking combination of black and watermelon is for you!

Wearing a little black dress? Jazz it up with a purple mini bag with a turquoise and purple scarf.

Rich Earth Colors, feminine and masculine pieces

Plum, mustard, forest green and deep reds will rule Canadian streets for Fall.  Visit Holt Renfrew, the Bay, H&M and Simons in Montreal for great fashion.

Even though it's still warm and humid out, cooler weather will soon be upon us. It's a perfect time to visit Camellia's to choose a new Handbag, scarf , or perhaps a pair of warm, wooly mitts.

We are OPEN Wednesday through Sunday.
 Wed. 11-5, Thurs. 11-8, Fri. Noon-7p. Sat. 11-5. Sun. Noon-5p.

Some like it HOT, but some like it cool..The Camellia, Thunder Bay

Some like it HOT, but some, like my Golden above, like it cool. How about you? Do you view the approaching Fall with dread, or are you a bit fed-up with the heat and high humidity?

Plants are still blooming away ... here are Heavenly Blue Morning Glories.  It's been such a hot, tropic-like Summer, and the plants have been loving it. As long as you can keep up with the watering....

And today, even though it's maybe 100 degrees out, we're thinking Fall, and busy changing displays and adding our new Fall product to the store.

With all the flowers still blooming in the Garden, Bouquets can be quickly thrown together. I like to use branches laden with apples, and Grapevine branches , heavy with grape clusters.

Time to start thinking about decorating for Fall - here are simple fern bundles from the Farm

At Camellia's, we have fabulous new Purses, and lots of evening bags with bling.

One of my favourite activities in the Fall - going for a walk or a Hike.

Have a fun long weekend, and be sure to stop in at Camellia's! Open Wed. through Sunday.
Sat. 11-5, Sun. Noon-5p.

30 Hacquoil Rd. ( No, this is not in the boonies or out in the back of nowhere..!)
It's a simple 10 minutes from the Thunder Bay Airport, heading south along Hwy. 61 .
We'd love to see you!

Thinking Christmas in Summer, Camellia's, Thunder Bay

Yes, it's Summertime but for those of us in retail, we are fast forwarding ahead to Christmas. A difficult thing to do when it's so nice and warm out. What about you, have you made any sand castles lately? Play is so important in our lives.

 Splashing in Lake Superior.

 Gigantic Sunflowers from my Garden.

Splish-a-splashing in the water...always fun!

A pink tree..my grand-daughter and niece would love this!!

 Snow-encrusted blooms....

Lovely Pink and white colour scheme..... a departure from the usual red and green.
